Health app for disadvantaged rural communities in Africa

SamaDoc® in the Senegalese most-spoken Wolof language means „My Doctor“. The new M-Health-Application for Smartphones SamaDoc® by YOU Foundation bridges the gap between no- or poor- health care and prevention services in Westafrica. We see the use of mobile technology as the main development for Africa countries, especially concerning the poorer rural areas. SamaDoc® works as a mobile Application on smartphones, but also with a number to call for instant doctors‘ help or advise, so as with text and image transmissions. The easy and quick health care-, advise or prevention service serves all ages and genders with a focus on women and girls, who most often fear the approach of a doctor for their delicate health questions or treatments. SRH (sexual reproductive health), AIDS, FGM (female genital mutilation), family planning, early childhood-marriage or other infectious illnesses are topics that too often are hidden, are forbidden and/or bring shame and the fear of stigmatization. Furthermore of course COVID-19 prevention and help-numbers so as assistance are offered. The direct interaction with medical practitioners or midwifes without being physically present is the greatest advantage to people who need medical care or advice but are not able to visit a doctor, a hospital or clinic for the most various reasons. Please help to enlarge SamaDoc® and to scale it up into more and more countries to serve the most vulnerable people:
The YOU Foundation – Education for Children in Need, an initiative of UNESCO Special Envoy Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven, is committed to education for the poorest of the poor worldwide.
