Africa

In Africa, 30 million primary school aged children do not attend school. This represents approximately 43 percent of the world's 67 million children who do not attend school.

Asia

700 million people in Asia live in absolute poverty. This is almost two-thirds of the world's absolute poor.

North and Latin America

100 million children live on the streets, 33 million of them are homeless and without their parents. About seven million of these children live in Brazil alone and 500,000 children in Peru.

Europe

Children in Europe normally no longer suffer from hunger. However, almost 19 percent of children and young people still live very close to the poverty line.

Arabic States

A mixture of lack of education, poverty and disregard for human dignity is still widespread to varying degrees and depending on the regime in parts of the Arab world. 70 out of 240 million people in this region are illiterate.
