For the pilot project BARAKA – “From slum to modern district” in Dakar – Senegal, we are looking for volunteers for a period of at least 6 months.
You accompany slum residents in a successful transition into the new living environment, support you in hygiene management and are at your side with words and deeds. The principle of helping people to help themselves is important: The residents of Baraka should be able to take responsibility for maintaining and developing the new living conditions in the long term.

Your contribution:
• Continuous sensitization and support of residents in compliance with and improvement of individual and collective hygiene standards and waste management.
• Definition of suitable measures for the proper maintenance and care of the new living space, as well as its control.
• Continuous further development / adaptation of existing measures in the context of hygiene management with the aim of further, long-term improvement in quality of life and health.
• Contact person for the residents in all related issues.
• Participatory approach with the necessary coordination with the various local interest representatives and responsible committees (e.g. delegates of the respective buildings, women, young people, imams).
• Organization of special projects that contribute to further positive social development, e.g. activities for children and young people.
• Monitoring and regular documentation of the progress of the activities that you bring with you
• You are hands-on and flexible
• You have a positive attitude

• You have a talent for organization and like to be right in the middle of the action
• Ideally, you have experience abroad and have already volunteered
• Ideally experience in hygiene management
