In the villages of Saré Yéro Banna and Touba Dioola, women bear the primary responsibility for feeding their families. Women work in agriculture and are engaged daily in the very labor-intensive processing of staple foods such as millet, corn, and rice. The hard work of separating the husks from the grains is often still done manually by pounding. This activity is physically very demanding and extremely time-consuming. Furthermore, only small quantities of grain can be processed this way.

With the 1-Euro donations received so far, existing community spaces in the two villages are being renovated and modern mechanical combination mills are being installed. These mills enable the women to process grain faster, more efficiently, and in larger quantities. This significantly reduces the physical strain, and at the same time, the women gain valuable time for income-generating activities.

The increased production allows for more food items to be sold, opening up new income opportunities. At the same time, educational opportunities for girls improve, and families can be fed more sustainably.

The project not only strengthens household food security but also promotes women’s economic independence. Through accompanying training, local women’s committees also learn to manage, maintain, and operate the facilities sustainably and on their own.

Your support directly contributes to improving the living conditions and prospects for income, nutrition, education, and family life for over a thousand women in a long-term and sustainable way.
