The various blockades of the Gaza Strip that exist since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territories have led to an ongoing, very serious supply crisis for millions of displaced people inside Gaza. Food is scarce, cooking facilities are lacking and people are threatened by increasing famine. The immense food insecurity and lack of drinking water requires urgent and direct action to prevent hunger, thirst, and disease among children and their families from getting even worse.
With the humanitarian emergency project “Help for Gaza – providing fresh food for resettled families,” fresh food, vegetables and fruit were distributed to the neediest families. So far, 582 food parcels have been distributed in the Gaza Strip. It is a “drop in the bucket” but nevertheless an important contribution to alleviating hunger, suffering, malnutrition and disease among the war-affected population in Rafah, Palestine. The basic supply of vitamin-rich food to people has been improved and hardship has to some extent been alleviated.
