A hard-boiled egg a day can be lifesaving, helps improve nutrition, and provides children and pregnant women in particular with much of the minerals, carbohydrates, and protein they need.

Our nutrition project “An egg a day ” – poorest smallholders are successfully trained

The families have been provided with laying hens, roosters and poultry feed in this project. They were able to successfully complete training and were benefited with the “self-sufficiency packages”.

Background: Low skills and educational poverty of the people in the border region of Mali and Burkina Faso mean that poultry farming as well as vegetable cultivation are still in their infancy. Farmers encounter a number of recurring difficulties that further limit access to needed food.

Climate change and the very limited nutritional knowledge of affected households also increase food insecurity and negatively affect the nutritional status of children in particular, with symptoms of malnutrition or undernutrition. The existential need of the large number of very poor households forces many people to flee.

The YOU Foundation – Education for Children in Need, an initiative of UNESCO Special Envoy Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven, is committed to education for the poorest of the poor worldwide.
