Access to high-quality education is unattainable for the vast majority of children in West Africa. RORI is an AI-powered chatbot that offers personalized math lessons for in- and out-of-school children via WhatsApp and Facebook.
Implementation:
- RORI asks students practice questions and understands their answers
- Students progress at their own pace and in their own language
with a personalized avatar
- Difficulty level increases automatically
- Audio curriculum library for explanations
- High-quality, high-dose tutoring and additional learning time
Results 2024:
- A total of 35.9 million messages were exchanged
- Update to RORI 4.0
- Over 130,000 students reached (!) in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Rwanda
- Evaluation conducted by JPAL and the University of Oxford in Ghana
- Rori users improved their math scores by 9.2 percentage points compared to 4.1 percentage points for non-users
- Improvement in effectiveness
