Women 4 Ethical Artificial Intelligence Conference | UNESCO
Background
Organized jointly with UNESCO’s Women4Ethical AI platform, this conference will focus on advancing the ethics of artificial intelligence through a gender lens, with an emphasis on implementing the Gender Policy Action Area of Recommendation on the Ethics of AI (2021). The Recommendation is the global standard on the ethical governance of AI, representing commitment of all 194 UNESCO Member States.
Hosted by the Social and Human Sciences Sector, the event will tackle critical issues such as gender stereotypes in generative AI, women’s representation in AI development, and gendered inequalities in the AI labor market. The event will explore both the risks and opportunities of AI in promoting gender equality, and focus on concrete policy actions and solutions to be pursued globally, in line with the Recommendation
Bringing together the world’s prominent experts, policymakers, and advocates in this domain, the event aims to create actionable strategies to close the digital gender divide and strengthen the intersection of AI, gender equality, and human rights. Key highlights of the event include the launch of the Outlook Study on Gender and AI.
