Education and Skills Development for Young Women And Mothers

The Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in Thailand provide disadvantaged and marginalized women and mothers with access to education and vocational training in poverty-stricken regions. The project was implemented in Pho Thong District (Ang Thong Province) for 15 sub-districts in cooperation with UNESCO Thailand.

Project Objective:

To improve access to education and develop life skills and vocational competencies for mothers, young women, disadvantaged learners and marginalized groups, people with disabilities and the elderly. Key project elements were providing safe learning spaces, childcare, creating better infrastructure and strengthening employability, self-development and quality of life.

Activities (of the Project)

  • Expansion and renovation of the main center and 15 CLCs
  • Establishment of child-friendly learning and play spaces
  • Provision of furniture, materials and learning media
  • Training for staff, including childcare for young children
  • Vocational and skills training for disadvantaged target groups
  • New construction of a multifunctional learning space with modern equipment

Beneficiaries:

Approximately 700 learners and employees within three months (from November 2025)

Results (November 2025 - January 2026):

    • 505 participants in programs on life skills, civic and ethical education and digital skills (including  AI)

    • Measurable learning success for 180 participants:
      • Before training: 49%
      • After training: 93%

    • Renovated, suitable learning spaces and improved access to education
    • Continuous participation, including learners with care responsibilities
    • Over 860 participants in qualification and income programs
    • 330 learners (81% women) completed 40-hour vocational training courses in 15 sub-districts
    • The CLC acts as a model learning center with high satisfaction and sustainable impact

Vocational Qualification Programs

40-hour intensive training courses for 330 participants (81% women) with a focus on income-generating skills, including in:

Basket and bag weaving, sewing, agricultural equipment repair, home maintenance, woodworking, Thai massage, bakery/food processing as well as cosmetics and hairdressing.
