This year we would like to increase the focus of our work on the strengthening of social enterprises in African countries.\u00a0 There are several reasons why we feel that supporting these social enterprises is so important.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Social enterprises combine the benefits of charitable work with classical business.\u00a0 These companies combine the best of both worlds.\u00a0 Social enterprises follow business principles while at the same time striving to reach their charitable goals or solve a societal problem.<\/p>\n

With our campaign, we would like to support the founding of (micro-) social enterprises and strengthen the economic self-sufficiency of individuals.\u00a0\u00a0 With this, we support women in Senegal, Mali, or Burkina Faso, on their way to financial independence. For example, we imagine small companies formed by 2 to 3 women that work together towards a common interest and goal.<\/p>\n

An example of a recently formed successful social enterprise is the group of fisherwomen in Senegal. Here you can learn more about the impact of this project<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The women joined forces, and this allowed them to offer their goods and services more professionally.\u00a0 Trainings geared especially to the needs of the women helped them achieve their goals.\u00a0 As their level of professionalism increases, so does their income and as a result the financial position of each individual women.\u00a0 They are able to provide for their family and their children are able to attend school.<\/p>\n
