The video shows the village of Kpokpornu in the Volta region of Ghana, where up until recently it was impossible to access safe and clean water and the poorest of the poor suffered from extreme water scarcity.
\nApproximately 9 million people in Ghana to not have regular access to clean water and 31% of Ghanaians do not have access to sanitation facilities. Women and girls often spend many hours a day getting water from dirty rivers and ponds and are forced on long and dangerous walks with heavy loads to bring water back to their villages. Very often, women and girls are subject to violence on these hazardous trips.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Approximately 1,500 villagers, many of them subsistence farmers, will benefit from the two wells which were built in Kpokpornu and Sokoda. Prior to this project, villagers were forced to use contaminated surface water which they shared with their cattle. This water contained potentially life-threatening parasites and high levels of bacteria. Consumption of the contaminated water resulted in sickness and death.<\/p>\n

Safe and clean water is now available to circa 1,500 people in close proximity to their homes even during drought season. With this, the project supports the global Sustainable Development Goal SDG Nr. 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and gives people a new perspective for a better future.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
